Machines can be seen as a natural extension of human nature and a reflection of our innate creativity and adaptability. They can be considered natural processes because they emerge from and are influenced by human nature.

The word "machine" derives from the Proto-Indo-European root *meh₂gh-, meaning "to be able to, to help; power, sorcerer". It evolved through Ancient Greek μηχᾰνή (mēkhanḗ) and Latin machina, before entering Middle French as "machine" and finally English in the mid-16th century.

ma·chine
